Asset Administration Committee Study, review and shape current practices and trends in the administration and asset management of commercial real estate investments--both debt and equity. Recommend and provide information on improvements in methods of administering those investments. Provide training forums and networking opportunities for the loan servicing/asset management professional through participation in the Regional Training Forums and Asset Administration and Technology Conference. Capital Markets Committee Represent MBA members involved and/or interested in the commercial real estate capital markets, with a focus on the commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) market. Furnish forums for discussion of topical issues related to these markets. Initiate market and regulatory activities aimed at facilitating a more efficient public debt market for real estate finance. Education Committee Serve in an advisory capacity to develop, implement and evaluate educational programs targeted specifically to MBA's commercial and multifamily members. Create attractive value-added programs and offer these programs to members in a timely manner. Respond quickly to changing industry demands for training and enhance awareness of departmental programs through the use of carefully crafted, "cutting edge" information about advanced topics in the commercial real estate finance industry.
International Committee Represent MBA members interested in conducting business with foreign countries. Promote access to foreign capital. Membership should be able to access foreign mortgage capital and have the opportunity to export or find new sources for product or product placement. Identify common transaction issues. Develop a reference of common property financing, valuation, legal, accounting, capital markets, and asset administration issues. Promote standardization. Use the MBA web site as an educational and informational tool for common issues and standardization. Attract foreign lenders who are not participating in the annual CREF convention, to come to the Convention.
Legislative Committee Propose, evaluate, and establish federal legislative policy initiatives for MBA's commercial and multifamily interests. Engage in activities intended to foster professional relationships between MBA members and members of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
Loan Origination Committee Serve as a forum for discussions relating to underwriting and due diligence of real estate collateral for financing including the: (a) evaluation of physical condition, the assessment of environmental issues, the valuation of income property and the use of third party reports; (b) compliance with standard lender conditions precedent to closing and funding loans; (e.g. title insurance and surveys, lease reviews, hazard and flood insurance; borrower organizational documents, etc.), and (c) standardization of loan closing documentation.
Mortgage Banking Committee Represent the interests of commercial/multifamily mortgage banking firms who are members of MBA. Provide a forum for the consideration of issues affecting the welfare of commercial mortgage bankers and make policy recommendations to the Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors. Provide senior management perspective and oversight as appropriate to the initiatives and recommendations of the other committees of Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors.
Multifamily Steering Committee Collect, evaluate and disseminate information on conventional financing, FHA-insured and institutional purchases of multifamily housing. Work with institutional lenders and with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae on the secondary market for, and the securitization of multifamily housing mortgages, both taxable and tax-exempt. Study and encourage improvements in all aspects of producing, insuring, financing and managing FHA-insured loans on all types of multifamily and health care properties. Work with public agencies and private groups to encourage, develop and disseminate information on programs to support the development of multifamily housing for low and moderate income persons.
Portfolio Investors Committee Research and identify issues affecting the commercial and multifamily mortgage and real estate investment portfolios of life insurance companies, commercial banks, REITs and other portfolio lenders. Serve as a resource for addressing portfolio lenders' questions regarding regulatory compliance. Advocate credible policy positions which both address issues affecting life insurance companies', commercial banks' and other portfolio lenders' commercial and multifamily mortgage and real estate investments; and reflect the consensus of MBA's portfolio lender members. Research Committee Facilitate research, development and publication of information pertaining to the commercial real estate and multifamily finance industry, including annual production of survey reporting on the production and servicing operations of traditional mortgage banking firms. Technology Initiatives Committee Provide strategic direction for commercial and multifamily members to meet the revolutionary changes in information technology and in the commercial/multifamily real estate finance industry.
