| E.J. Burke, Vice Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) is Executive Vice President and Group Head of KeyBank Real Estate Capital & Corporate Banking Services, a division of KeyBank, N.A. Burke is one of five Group Heads in KeyCorp's Corporate Banking Division, with responsibility for KeyBank Real Estate Capital, Key's Treasury Management Services, International & Foreign Exchange Services, Custody Services and the Financial Institutions Client Segment.
Burke previously served as head of KeyBank Real Estate Capital where he was responsible for the development, profitability and quality of the commercial real estate portfolio, both on and off balance sheet, on a national basis. Before assuming responsibility for the entire Real Estate Capital line of business, Burke served as head of real estate capital markets for Key; where he was responsible for all off balance sheet capital markets activities, including mezzanine, equity, commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) and Agency and Life Company products. He also served as managing director for Key's Commercial Mortgage Division. Under his leadership, Key became the fifth largest commercial mortgage servicer and a top-10 bank based commercial conduit lender.
Prior to joining KeyBank, Burke was president and a founding member of Kansas City-based National Realty Funding, LC, a master, primary and special servicer, as well as an originator/seller of commercial mortgage loans for securitization, that was acquired by KeyCorp in 2000.
Prior to cofounding National Realty Funding in 1997, Burke was Program Director for Midland Commercial Funding, a division of Midland Loan Services, L.P. Prior to joining Midland in 1993, Burke held various commercial lending positions in Oklahoma City and Kansas City since 1978.
In addition to serving on MBA's Board of Directors, he also serves as a director of Vocational Guidance Services, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance and is a trustee of University Circle, Inc. based in Cleveland, Ohio.
Burke earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College, an MBA from Oklahoma City University and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
