The Mortgage Bankers Association is dedicated to pursuing new opportunities to help the industry do business more efficiently and effectively. Through the perseverance of this goal, MBA has established several resources and initiatives.
The MBA also is the voice of the real estate finance industry to lawmakers, both locally and nationally on issues relating to technology. MISMO and SISAC MISMO and SISAC are making great strides in the development of standards and secure transactions in the residential and commercial/multifamily market sectors. These efforts are leading the industry in technology standards and best practices.
MISMO MISMO develops, promotes and maintains voluntary electronic commerce specifications for the mortgage industry. Through these, it provides open, standardized e-commerce transactions, an eMortgage technology framework and Information Security guidelines and methodologies. Secure Identity Services Accreditation Corporation (SISAC) MBA is continuing to lead the development of security standards that enable secure electronic mortgage and B2B transactions through a common set of Digital ID and credentialing guidelines. A digital accreditation process performed by accredited auditors through SISAC, an MBA subsidiary, aims to achieve system commonality. Visit SISAC.
Technology Issues Many of the advances of the last few years have been aided by legislation and regulation that provide for parity between electronic and traditional, paper-based transactions and by the rise of open standards.
