Washington, DC (December 30, 2004) – The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and The PMI Foundation have partnered with Habitat For Humanity to provide grants
to local Habitat affiliates to construct homes throughout the nation. MBA committed $50,000, which The PMI Foundation matched.
The $100,000 will be distributed as ten $10,000 grants to local Habitat affiliates that successfully partner with an MBA State
& Local chapter.
"PMI is pleased to partner with MBA and Habitat For Humanity to provide grants to local Habitat affiliates across the country.
PMI's business is creating affordable housing opportunities for deserving families. Our partnership with MBA and Habitat advances
our commitment and will certainly help put deserving families into the home of their dream," said Roger Haughton, Chairman
Chief Executive Officer, The PMI Group, Inc.
"MBA is proud to be working with Habitat For Humanity, with the support of PMI, to reach out to the community and spread the
American Dream of Homeownership," said Jonathan L. Kempner, MBA President and CEO. "These grants will help provide decent,
affordable homes to those who need it most."
MBA and its member companies have sponsored 56 Habitat homes since 1998. Ten new projects will now be coordinated through
MBA's State & Locals allowing MBA to track each project's progress until completion. Additional information and questions
