WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 13, 2009) – John A. Courson, President and CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) today issued the following comment in response
to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD) that it would exercise restraint in enforcing
the new regulatory requirements under the RESPA rule for the first four months of 2010.
“We are pleased that HUD officials are recognizing the challenges that lenders are facing in implementing the new RESPA requirements.
We look forward to continuing to work with HUD to gain more clarity around the new requirements and we hope that other federal
and state officials will also heed HUD’s request that they exercise the same restraint.”
