Scholarship Application

The following information is required for your Path to Diversity scholarship application. Sections I (Cover Letter and Resume) and II (Response to Essay Questions) must be separate Word documents. Section III (Required Reference) must be a PDF document provided by your manager or the senior manager of your division.

When you have completed and/or acquired these documents, return to the Path to Diversity web site, and click on Submit Scholarship Application under the Employer Scholarship Menu. You will receive a confirmation that your materials have been sent.

Section I: Cover Letter and Resume

Your cover letter and resume should be together in one Microsoft Word document.

Your cover letter should include an introduction of yourself and a brief explanation in your interest to be selected as a Path to Diversity Scholar. Also indicate whether you have previously been awarded a Path to Diversity scholarship.  (200 words or less)

Your resume should include the following:

Personal Information

  • Name
  • Current job title
  • Company name
  • Company address
  • Phone
  • Fax
  • Email address
  • Work Experience
  • Detail total years in mortgage industry
  • Total years with current employer
  • Brief description of job duties
  • Describe any supervisory experience if applicable
  • List any special teams/projects you've been assigned to and briefly describe those goals and your role in accomplishing the goals
  • List any volunteer activity (e.g., Habitat for Humanity)

Higher Education

  • College/University Attended
  • Degrees conferred or highest level completed
  • Honors

MBA Involvement and CampusMBA Courses

  • List any involvement/participation in MBA programs; conferences, committees, within the past 5 years
  • List CampusMBA courses, certificate or designation programs started and/or completed within the past 5 years
  • List other continuing education courses you have completed

Section II: Essay Question

Write an essay answering the following questions. (400 words or less, must be a Microsoft Word document)

New Applicants:

  1. Describe how you became aware of the Path to Diversity scholarship program and your interest in pursuing this opportunity.

  2. How do you plan to utilize the knowledge and experience gained from the Path to Diversity scholarship program to promote diversity awareness within the community and the mortgage industry? How can this scholarship program help advance your professional development?

  3. What benefit do you anticipate for your company and your customers if you are awarded a scholarship?

Previous Scholarship Recipients:

  1. If you are a previous scholarship recipient or have attended a SOMB course through CampusMBA, describe how the experience has influenced you.

  2. Describe how you have utilized the knowledge and experience gained from the SOMB to advance your professional development, and to promote diversity awareness within your company and/or your community.

  3. Describe the valued gained by your company and your customers as a result of your participation in this program.

Section III: Letter of Recommendation and Employer Affidavit

Have your immediate manager or senior manager within your division/company complete a letter of recommendation answering the following questions. (must be an Adobe PDF document)

  1. Why do you feel this individual is a strong candidate for a Path to Diversity Scholarship?

  2. This program is designed to assist diverse professionals in advancing in the real estate finance industry. How does this individual demonstrate a sincere desire to advance and leadership skills consistent with your company's approach to management?

  3. How will this individual’s participation impact their professional development?

If your company does not appear on the list of participating companies, you must provide a completed employer affidavit.
