MBA's Future Leaders Program Overview
MBA's Future Leaders Program is dedicated to identifying and cultivating the next generation of industry leaders by delivering a comprehensive leadership training experience for selected participants through three events offered throughout the year.
Each October, MBA begins accepting applications for participation in for Future Leaders Class. Each new class will join a national network of more than 300 real estate finance professionals who have been recognized by the industry as its next generation of leaders.
Initiated in 1996 by then-MBA President Ron J. McCord, CMB, the Future Leaders program delivers a highly regarded curriculum focusing on leadership and business analysis skills. Participants in the Future Leaders Program:
- Get a strategic perspective of the future of the mortgage industry delivered by industry leaders.
- Learn about the federal legislative process and meet with their elected representatives in Congress at MBA's National Policy Conference.
- Working in teams, develop a holistic approach to community economic development and its impact on housing and commercial development for presentation to economic development experts.
- Graduate at MBA's Annual Convention and join a national network of professionals dedicated to the real estate finance industry.
Curriculum
Members of each class participate in a series of three seminars throughout the year focusing on leadership, business analysis and decision-making. Because peer learning is an integral component of the Future Leaders curriculum, participants should commit to attend each session. Class members also participate in conference calls related to group projects.
To be considered, applicants must be:
- Real estate finance professionals with 3-15 years of experience
- Full-time employees of Regular or Associate MBA member firms or adjunct state associations
- Individuals that have demonstrated a commitment to a career in real estate finance through professional excellence and achievement

Group Assignment June/July 2009 Dates & Location TBA
Closing Session and Graduation Ceremony - Held in conjunction with MBA's Annual Convention October 11-14, 2009 San Diego, Calif.
Tuition
Tuition for the program is $2,500 per person. Participants are also responsible for travel and accommodations related to each session. Applications for the Class of 2009 are currently available. The application deadline is January 15, 2009.
